PARTS & ACCESSORIES FOR KTM MOTORCYCLES
Austria's KTM AG is a manufacturer of high performance, race bred motorcycles and sports cars. KTM began operations in 1934 when engineer Hans Trunkenpolz opened a car repair shop in Mattighofen. After three years in business, Trunkenpolz became a dealer for DKW motorcycles and Opel automobiles and sold both through his repair shop, which was now called Kraftfahrzeug Trunkenpolz Mattighofen (KTM). KTM had great business success as a diesel repair shop during World War II but after the fall of the Third Reich, Trunkenpolz was inspired to create and mass-produce his very own motorcycles. His first design was the R100, which went to prototype in 1951. The R100 went into full-scale production just 2 years later and with a skeleton crew of only 20 employees (including Trunkenpolz, himself). KTM motorcycles saw immediate success on the racing circuit, which led the company to create and manufacture more models. KTM also branched out into developing their own off-road mopeds and bicycles. KTM shifted focus on more race-oriented endeavors during the 1970s and 1980s and in the early 1990s, the company's heavy involvement in motorsports led to the creation of some of their most legendary models including the 1994 Duke road bike, 1996 KTM motocross machine, and the 1997 LC4 Supermoto. After acquiring Sweden's Husaberg in 1995 and Husqvarna Motorcycles in 2013, KTM Sportmotorcycle GmbH is the current reigning king of Europe's motorcycle industry. They are Europe's the largest manufacturer; overtaking even such 2-wheel icons as Triumph, BMW, Aprilia, and Ducati.
